A club for users and candidates to guide dog users

The Portuguese guide dog users, the candidates to users and the foreign users visiting our country did not have, until now, systematized information about guide dogs for the blind in Portugal.

Some questions such as: "Can I enter a taxi with my guide dog? Can I enter a restaurant? Can I enter a cinema or a theatre? Is there any legislation in Portugal applicable to guide dogs for the blind? Where can I find medical help?" are some examples.

A help to the orientation and mobility of the blind

CPUC on-line offers the users, candidates to users, private and public organizations a huge set of information, in Portuguese and in English, that will permit to deal much better with this precious help in the orientation and mobility of a blind person.

Updated information

In CPUC on-line you will find a directory of vet hospitals, with a 24 - hour-per day emergency department, as well as a directory of vets, organized by towns and councils. The guide dog trainers and vets will have a directory, where it will be possible to find articles with their opinions in such matters as health care and dog behaviour, basically focused on the Labrador Retriever.

Legislation is another very important area. In this site you can find not only the Portuguese legislation on guide dogs for the blind, but also other countries legislation, giving priority to the European Union countries, this is essential for those who need to travel abroad. Important directories of contacts will also be available in the CPUC on-line.

The CPUC on-line is also, and above all, a space for sharing experiences of a team, user’s experiences and stories and the awareness of the dog with its abilities, its tricks and its enormous capacity to play.
